Unitree Robotics Outshines Tesla’s Optimus at World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing
China’s inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games showcased Unitree Robotics as a formidable rival to Tesla’s Optimus, with its H1 robot securing victories in a 1,500-meter race and a 4×100-meter relay. The event, featuring 280 teams from 16 countries, highlighted China’s strategic push to dominate the robotics industry.
Despite the progress, the competition revealed the nascent state of humanoid robotics. Robots stumbled during races, lost limbs, and relied on brute force in soccer matches. Many were still controlled by human operators, underscoring the technology’s limitations and the long road ahead for autonomous functionality.
